Check out the new Yancy cd out soon!
Parents, it’s a great cd to have in the car and won’t drive you crazy! (Like the 1 album I have that Eliana falls asleep to – baby Bible songs that sounds like the ice-cream truck from the other room.)
I’ll link it on the side too.
This Sunday begins a new month and Journey Kids are learning new things! Each Bible story this month will be wrapped around these main points. Take these main points, write them down and talk about them when you’re driving to football games or eating dinner.
2-3 years and 4-K – watch this vision video
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid.” Deuteronomy 31:6, (NLT)
I can always count on God.
Get a Clue – INITIATIVE
Virtue: Initiative—seeing what needs to be done and doing it.
Memory Verse: “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4, NIV
We started the summer series today in Journey Kids. It was a lot of fun being in with the 1st-5th graders this week! A few years ago I got to be in there every Sunday with my husband, we stepped into another area, so I don’t get to be in there very often anymore.
It was awesome when the kids had the entire month’s verse memorized by the end of the hour through the activities. We got to eat Candy Ring Pops, watch an awesome video with the lesson, and dig into the Bible. The kids rocked the morning. We even got to hand out a few Journey Bucks to kids who stepped in and helped when others moved on by the mess.
The main phrase this week is “I’m going to follow the star” – meaning I’m going to follow Jesus and His light.
The verse is John 8:12b “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The kids get sent home with a Fridge Door Card that talks about the main points as well as a God Time Card that has 4 short lessons you can do at dinner or bedtime with your kids. Did you know that if you do the activities with your kids and sign it, they can get a Journey Buck? Ask them what they can get with a Journey Buck! I love the God Time Card because it walk you through a great discussion with your kids without feeling overwhelming.
CHASE THE LIGHT! Is the theme for the July and August series in JOURNEY KIDS. I don’t want to give too much away now, but wanted to let you in on a few things…
- It’s all about THE INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES OF THE MISFIT BRIGADE. THEY WERE ALL DIFFERENT, BUT THEY FOLLOWED THE SAME LIGHT.
- We’re recording the stories and songs for the entire 8 weeks to make it easier for new people to jump in and help. (1st-5th is doing the same series, but their stories are already done for us!) All I can say is that we have some awesome story tellers giving up their time to help with this.
- We’re inviting parents to come in the rooms and help out for 2 weeks.
- There are snacks, games, crafts, all wrapped around learning to Chase the Light.
- Watch for videos, announcements and invites from your kids! It’s a great opportunity to see what your kids do throughout the year as well as give our “regular” volunteers a huge thank you and break!
I was in with the Parenting/Child Dedication group for Next Steps Night. When we split up, I shared some resources that we had available. (These also can be found on the right, but it’s easier to see with the explanation!)

There’s the Journey Kids blog where you can find the monthly letter from the editors of the kids curriculum. It’s nice to hear a little more on the main points for the month. It also has some links on the side where you can get family movie reviews or download the song their singing in Journey Kids for the month. Check it out.
